Very custard apple on the nose backed by nectarine and peach, a littler cream and butter in support. medium plus intensity acidity on the palate, tangy with flavours as per the nose accompanied by a little ripe red apple, very slightly textured burr and a touch of pettilance. Nice.

Prior bottle was just over 6 months ago, so my notes were quite similar. White peach, apple, floral and spice notes on the nose with the white apple notes getting more prevalent the longer it was open. Medium bodied with with the same combination of white peach and white apple upfront. However, through the middle, the white peach evolves to yellow peach along with orange, white pineapple, mango, more yellow tropical fruit notes and even some hints of honey. Backside continues to show orange and lemon along with good acidity, but the acidity isn't as energetic as it was previously. While it still helps to balance the fruit, it's more a standard structural quality, rather than an element amplifying the fruit. This wine gained in complexity, but lost in terms of contrast. Still has the elements to continue to show well for a number of additional years.

Light whitish yellow; nice, intense, sweet brioche; fresh intense sweetness with good acidity, really tasty; you take one sip and then immediately ask for another

Crystalline peach, white apple, floral and spice notes on a quite pretty nose. Medium bodied (7% ABV) with white peach and white apple upfront. Shows more depth and noticeably more intensity through the mid-body. There's a mixture of white and yellow peach along with orange qualities and even some tart tropical notes towards the back. Acidity is still quite lively and not only supports the fruit, but also provides a pleasant zip of contrast on the back to go along with the tart citrus notes (orange and lemon). There's a richness through the middle, but only the lightest touch of true sweetness. Leaves the wine feeling youthful, with well defined and balanced fruit, coupled with good structural qualities. Should continue to evolve positively and I'll save my next bottle for Fall 2022.

First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Served blind. Slight kerosene, custard apple, a little apricot, slight lychee as well...Medium plus intensity acidity, fresh, juicy, similar flavours to the nose, a little texture. Lovely.

Christmas Day 2020 (My place, Kent Street): Served with nectarines wrapped in proscuitto di parma or jamon iberica. From Coravin. Initially a little kerosene on the nose accompanied by honey and some sulphur spritz though this dispersed quite quickly. It has the stone fruit quality of the 2007 though didn't show the botrytised elements I had picked up. Juicy on the palate with similar flavours and less richness though still with acid and sugar balanced. With the Jamon this wine sang though.

From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas initially show a wild ferment funkiness and this, with some sulphur prickle, rather dominate the slightly rich but mineral apple and pear fruit. In the mouth it's far more generous though; the fruit more to the fore. Off dry but with plenty of acid to offset - not too much though - all crunchy apple and a smidge of pear. Long. Woof!

fantastic. intense, still dissolved CO2, still young and primary with no signs of evolution. delicious but best to forget about them for another decade

Zwavel overheerst sterk. Schijnt normaal te zijn volgens eerdere proefnotities hier. Misschien ouderwets maar ik houd niet van wijn die naar luciferkopjes smaakt. Geen rating. wel door het putje.

Surprisingly simple and monotonous Riesling Spätlese from Schloss Lieser. Drinks very good although slightly too young. Lacks some of the play and lightness that Fritz Haag has. Marginally too ripe this vintage?

Very difficult to rate as it had too much sulfur for my taste. It took over a week opened for it to become clean enough to taste. Will wait at least a year for the next bottle, but I have no reason to doubt that this wine will last at least 15 years in a good cellar.

This is excellent! The wine starts with a mineralized grapefruit nose. It is almost electric in its approach and attack which is sweet and juicy, tart and refreshing, spicy red grapefruit, and a nice mineral perception. Add in a puff of petrol. Again, excellent... I drank this- myself- pop and pour over three hours. Yum! 93+

I am beginning to think that all Liesers are too low in acidity. This one has a very reductive nose with a bit of sulphur which blows off. Correct sweetness for a spätlese, but damn...I would like to have more acidity...again. I rarely say this about JJ Prüm or Fritz Haag - and never about Egon Müller !!

Not quite as precise and focused as the last bottle I had. Still very enjoyable with bright primary Riesling fruit accented by florality and some sponti yeast funk, but doesn't have the cut and vibrancy I was looking for.

Strong sulfury stink makes this much more reminiscent of JJ Prum in style than Fritz Haag, which is saying something in that the only other '09 spatlese I've had so far is the Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr. That one was definitely in a more drinkable condition than this, which almost seemed like a wine in progress with its chemical odors and beady carbonic spritz. (Unlike many young rieslings the CO2 hasn't meshed with the wine in a way that it just seems to impart an energetic tingle; here it really stands out and comes across disjointed relative to the creamy fruit.) This one will need at least a little bit of time to knit itself together.

I'm going to have a hard time keeping my hands off my other bottles of this. Wild aromatics; floral and ripe fruited with the slightly funky sponti-yeast scents Lieser usually tends to show, and a palate full of fresh Riesling fruit and minerality that's incredibly crystalline and precise with really bright acidity and a sense of tremendous refreshment. Fantastic Spätlese.

Refined bouquet. A little sparkling still. Very tasteful; soft tropical fruits, sweet, but with beautiful acidity behind it. Very pure and elegant and a fairly long finish. Just a little less good as the Niederberg Helden.
