Screw cap. Decanted and served. Mid garnet, faint bricking only. Ethereal aromas of violets, dark cherries, graphite. Barely medium bodied, but such good intensity to seamless and balanced palate. Spicy notes mingle with dark fruits. Good length too.

Screw cap. Double decanted back into the bottle. Consumed 2 hours later. Light to medium garnet. Earthy aromas, with black berries and dried herbs. Savoury. Elegant and light to medium weight on the palate. Fine tannins now, almost all integrated. Good length. This bottle was very fine.

Screw cap. Decanted and served immediately. Mid garnet. Red and blue fruits sit amongst dried herbs and a touch of earth. The palate seems very youthful - bright, lifted, gently intense. Medium bodied. Carries the aromas well. Good finish. Balanced. This bottle would have had a good decade in it still, quite different from previous bottles.

PnP. Screwcap. Medium garnet. Fine sediment. Lovely floral aromas and red and blue fruits. This wine is singing. The medium weighted palate is still fresh and and reasonably high toned. The fine tannins carry the fruits and acids to a reasonably long finish. There are developed flavours here as well - leather and earth predominantly. It's clean, with no barnyard aromas or flavours detected. Drinking very well.

SLDS March 2016: Under screwcap. Red fruits with some leather, floral notes, herb and earth. The fruit intensity may show the difficulty of the vintage as it is fairly light in style but there is a nice earthy savoury streak throughout that I think gives it some interest. Drinking well now, but I don't think another 3-4 years would hurt it terribly.

Screw cap. Reveals blue and purple fruits, with a deeper earthy quality. Palate seems mature already, gently layered with earthy notes. Decent finish. The wine didn't hold up well the following day.

Slow ox of 4 hours. Lovely nose - smoky, sweet, plummy. The same profile translates on the palate. Medium bodied. Decent finish. A good example of this iconic hunter shiraz, especially given the tricky vintage. Very good, but not great.

Strongly recommend extended decanting time before consumption because it takes several hours to turn from a brew into a wine. Once converted it still has portlike tendencies but has all the Australian syrah characteristics together with pepper and a touch of plum?

"2014" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/13/2013-10/18/2013 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {screwcap, 13.5%} Generously donated by Mr Riggs, this was the first vintage under screwcap, and it’s aging just as he expects, for a tricky, rather wet year. There’s plenty of rustic earth and dust, not brett in the old tradition, but rather a complex weave of savoury qualities. Medium/full-bodied, still with tannins drying evenly along the palate, and a longish finish. This is terrific Hunter shiraz, for drinking now or over the next 5 years.

Seppelt (Colin Preece) Sparkling Burgundy, 2x100yo Seppelt Paras and many more! (Sydney, Australia): First vintage of this wine under screwcap. Some floral notes with plum, cranberry and plenty of Hunter Valley style leather and earth. The fruit is definitely light-medium weighted but there is enough there that it isn't an issue for me and it melded well with the more earthy elements. Very good for the vintage, this is a relatively short term drinking prospect and I think it was showing really well right at the moment.

This wine went bad very fast. The first half of the bottle was consumed in one evening and it was pleasant enough. One day later after leaving it setting overnight, it seemed almost corked -- nasty aroma and very bad taste.

Very earthy and complex wine. Not at all like typical Australian shiraz. In the perfect drinking range now but will cellar for some years to come.

Started hot but mellowed nicely after about an hour of breathing. Could probably use several hours. Intense fruit.

Not sure but this wine seemed corked or it is just not as good as expected.

This wine was just not very good. Too earthy, gravelly and yet had a thin mouth feel to it with no mid palate and a nonexistent finish.
