This was a wonderfully big wine. The nose had some vegetive scents and maybe seemed a bit hot. Flavor (and alcohol percentage) was not hot, but full of dark fruit, spice, earth and a bit of anise. It is a dry wine with well balanced tannins and a really long spicy finish. Really sorry not to have more of this wine.

Decanted 4 hrs. plus or minus an hour. 100% Mourvedre. Not the most aromatic wine I’ve had in the last few months, but perhaps one of the most tastiest and satisfying. While some soft, sweet smelling red fruit came out with swirling, the real joy here was just to taste the damn thing, and all is good. Dark cherry fruit contains both a sweet and slightly tart edge and some shades of tree bark. Great and fine balance between the tannic and acid structure, very seamless. Has the satisfaction of being a fruit bomb, but without actually going down that road. Meticulous winemaking here has often the case with this producer. Firmly falls into the camp of ‘could age longer but ridiculously hard not to drink today camp’. I can’t think of a better new world Mourvedre.

Update: 5-9-13 Just drank my last bottle, forgetting I had had this earlier this year. This time 12hr decant and a touch on day two. Plenty of acid, plenty of spice, plenty of life left. Would've saved this bottle for a minimum of two years from now had I known...

Deep purple all the way through to within a millimeter of the rim. Purple color, purple fruits, plums, blackberries on the nose. On the palate, blackberry/boysenberry, white pepper and a touch of coriander along with a floral component I can't quite place. Full bodied, dry, yet sweet with the taste of fresh and baked berries. Balanced acid, subtle tannin, and a long lingering finish that hints at dark chocolate, this wine screams WA fruit while being somewhat restrained. It reminds me of a full figured wine that would really like to be restrained, or a lean wine that is pushing at the seams. Either way, it is delicious.

Terriffic as always, tons of cherry, ripe but clean and very fresh. Trademark mourvedre spice in a tight new world package. Should be intesting in a year or three, but drinks well already.

Decanted 1 hour. Huge wine, full of black fruit, earth, funk, and some spiciness that prevails through the finish. Just a touch of sweetness in the fruit, this is extremely well made. While the oak is noticeable, it is so well-integrated that it sings along with the fruit and secondary flavors. A bit of vanilla on the finish, but very spicy notes there as well.

Smashed plums and blackberries on the nose, showing just a hint of sweet fruit. Also some dirt road and mild pepper. Smells absolutely delicous. The palate shows more of the same black and blue fruit, some red apple skins entering the finish as well as dark chocolate. Fantastic acidity and tannins, the feel of both here iare very well done. Very high intensity wine without extraction or heavy weight. The finish is long and full with the fruit and dark chocolate flavors lingers for 30 seconds. Absolutely delicious. With a decant this wine is ready to go now.

Really superb, as good as my taste over the summer. Drank one+ glass and put the rest under cork, and on day 2 it was more even-keeled and complete (smooth, polished, rich all sound too extreme). Not deep or profound but a very nicely balanced wine of gorgeous fruit that shows off varietal character without resorting to pure concentration. 91-93, not cheap but likely to buy a replacement bottle, this was distinctive and fun.

Tasted at the winery. No formal notes but this was probably the best 100% Mourvedre based red wine I have yet tasted. All that you want from Mouvedre - lip-smacking red fruit with some pepper, game and leather showing around the edges -- without becoming burly or cumbersome. Showed very well although I am not sure about the aeration (not a PnP).

Decanted for about 45 min. First time I recall drinking straight Mouvedre. Slightly unpleasant earthy scent on nose and not much else. Taste of cherries, quite smooth tannins. This is a bright straight forward wine...easy drinking and delicious with pasta.

100% Washington Mourvedre. Decanted for an hour. First taste was a bit acidic but the wine opened nicely from there. Taste of sweet cherries and earthiness, with a soft tannic finish. Very nice wine from an up and coming Walla Walla winery. Recommend getting on their mailing list as they may not have openings for long.

Bought after tasting at the winery and consumed a few days later. This is a ridiculously good American mourvedre. Not so sauvage as a Bandol, but complex and with a great purity.

Sampled at a WFFT tasting. The brightest and smoothest of the Rasa bottlings we opened. Cherries and raspberrys, with minimal tannins

Same as previous entry, perhaps even better. Full of fruit without being cloying with a bit of a bite...pepper? Thoroughly enjoyable.
