Very fragrant and balanced bouquet of ripe plums, minty black chocolate, cola, smoked star anise and oregano with some minerality. Forward and expressive but not in your face. Palate is as fragrance as the nose, rich with vanilla nuances on the palate, ending with a lift of acidity. It is not heavy at all. The structure is polished and open. The same aromatic profile follows from entry to a finish which is deep and long. At its peak now and will continue to keep well for the next 3 years.

I really don’t like this wine but others clearly do, so I’ll put it down to poor cellaring from a previous owner. Blah. Clarendon Hills from the same vintage superb.

App: clear, deep, garnet Nose: med intensity, toffee, black plum, prune, cooked fruits, jaminess, vanilla, black berry, dark chocolate, savoury, balsamic, black olive, tobacco, licorice, smoke, cedar, nutmeg. It’s developing. Palate: dry, high acidity, med+ tannins very smooth, high alcohol, med+ body, med+ flavour intensity. Mocha, raisin, stewed fruits. Med+ finish. Very good wine. Can drink now but has potential for ageing. A typical Barossa Shiraz of fruit bomb.

Surprisingly sour cherry notes. Not sure if I enjoyed this. Decanted for an hour, still sour cherry. Not the Shiraz I was hoping for. Maybe def. bottle?

Cult wine for sure, and right up my alley! Big Aussie with a nose of smoke and blackberry liqueur. Dense palate with precision, good acidity, awesome concentration, and a seriously full finish. This is the kind of wine that has become a cult favorite because not many South Australia vineyards can do it well -- and there's nothing like it anywhere else in the world.

Premature oxidation kicking in with this bottle. Stewed plum flavours, still quite smooth on the palate. Not much evidence of the string acid mentioned by others. That said, the bottle's obviously faulty, so unsurprising that the experience is different.

Vintage Australian Wine Tasting (Extra Space): Aroma of roasted oak, very much like chestnuts. Savoury dark fruits, plums, and some caramel towards the finish. Full-bodied. Will do well with a few more years.

Awful wine. Thin, insipid and astringent. Hoping this is only a poor bottle as I have five more. I will drink another in two weeks to compare.

Wonderful wine . Beautiful fruit with lovely length. Still has a long way to go. Drinking perfectly now. Barossa at its best

Really enjoyed this wine, sour red fruits - the acid and fruit were seamless

Leather, earth, smoky vanillin notes. The palate still has the overripe fruit. OK, but not a fan.
