Villa Calcinaia was founded in 1524 when the estate was purchased by Niccolo di Andrea Capponi, and it has been the country home of the Capponi family ever since. The estate is home to 75 acres of vineyards that produce Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva, Comitale, Viin Santo, and Casarsa; the renowned IGT Super Tuscan made from 100% Merlot. In addition they produce olive oil and vinegar. The Villa Calcinaia philosophy: love for the land, respect for tradition, and the rightful pride in bearing the name of Capponi.
