My experience with Barthod tells me that 1er crus need time to become enjoyable, yet my experience with the 2017 vintage tells me that many haven’t really shut down. With this bottle the 2017 character won out. Dark reddish fruits, very smooth with some underlying structure but not obvious tannin. Very good.

Slow-ox'ed in bottle for 5-6 hours, I doubt that made much difference in a magnum. This was drinking beautifully, reddish fruit, gentle tannins but enough acidity and structure to complement our meal. This particular bottle had no obvious flaws and was ready to go. Best barolo I've had in some time (maybe ever?).

2019 Vincent Pinot Noir Zenith Vineyard

This bottle seems a little tighter than the one we had last year. Still a lovely medium-bodied pinot but perhaps a little more edgy right now.
