I was very, very skeptical of this bottle as the cork was leaving much to desire in terms of structural integrity, though, thankfully (!), it turned out fine. Fine may be an understatement- it was excellent! The tannins are very round and sweet and the fruit notes are lovely, with a lot of cooked black fruits, cedar, sweet earth and wet, sweet pipe tobacco. Totally enjoyable, totally lovely and I totally wish I had more. If nothing else, these oldies are so fun to drink because alcohol levels are reasonable, meaning that splitting a bottle with someone doesn't leave you looking for the cab number...

The nose of this wine is all fruit; plenty of blue and black fruits (both fresh and cooked). The palate shows more fresh herbs, licorice, fennel and spice. This is a very silky, polished and modern showing from Clos des Brusquieres.

I thought this was excellent CdR and possesses great value for me. Very lovely wine with fresh lavender, soft fruit and an easy demeanor about it. The finish is long and the mouthfeel is round and caressing.
