I'm a big fan of the Audoin wines, but this was my first time trying Les Favières. Allen Meadows rates it the highest of all the Audoin crus and says it compares favorably to many premiers crus; I can see why. The wine was closed upon opening, but became delicious after 90 minutes or so. It is a substantial and serious wine, with more power and substance than other Audoin wines I have tasted. It has a streak of pepper and even five spice that is balanced by beautiful cherry fruit notes. Initially, I tasted a "hot" quality on the finish that I associate with high alcohol wines (though I doubt that is going on here). In any case, this quality disappeared with time. I expect this wine will improve with age for some time. Excellent qpr.

I wish this weren't my last bottle. It was drinking beautifully. Upon opening, I think I would have guessed it was a Burgundy based on the nose and initial flavors. At the same time, it has that resin-y coiled inner energy that I associate with Oregon PNs (sorry if that isn't helpful to others, that's how I describe this for myself). Overall, this is drinking great right now and should continue to hold well for the foreseeable future.

Very tannic and acidic at first, but it opened up after about 30 minutes. Lots of masculine leather and pine flavors. Not bad at all.
