Youthfully fresh, with sweet red and black fruits and a vibrant ruby-red robe. Already approachable but will no doubt round out further with more time in bottle. Nice.

Last of 12. Good intense colour, medium red with age appropriate bricking at the rim. At cellar temperature, extremely seductive with waves of brambly fruit, glacé cherry, delicate sandalwood and spiced plums. Quite glossy. Tar and black treacle anon. It still has some quite chewy tannins, but at a cool temperature this seems quite fresh in the mouth notwithstanding the torrid vintage. As it warms, though, even to just a mild chill, the fruit becomes more jammy and there’s an oily, clay-like texture that coats the mouth, not in a good way. At cellar temperature, I was, Wow, this is great, what a surprise for the vintage, but as it warmed (let’s say to 17 or 18 degrees) I stopped wanting to have any more. Educational.

Quite a rich buttery style, reflecting the bright yellow- gold robe, but retains freshness on nose and palate. I get roasted nuts, oatmeal, peach, a bit of citrus too. For the first couple of sips I found it a bit watery but as it opened up there was a bit more grip and persistence and zing. Pretty nicely balanced though and a pleasant drop, probably now at peak but no big hurry to drink.
