4/22/2021 3:18:00 PM - Hey Wino, Thanks for fanning and friending. We're all in search of a good bargain! Pro tip - WineSlash is a great place to find deals. No sales tax and free shipping on orders > $99.

12/16/2020 6:51:00 AM - Hey Wino, I have 4 bottles of the MFN 2018 - I have not opened one yet, but plan to in January most likely. I also have a few of the MFN SVDs and the H&H - I tried the 2018 H&H shortly after its arrival in November and it was excellent juice for $30. So I am expecting good things with the $50 MFN and the $70 SVDs. Will keep you posted on my notes.

12/4/2020 4:56:00 AM - Go to Winebid.com, select Cabernet sauviggnon, click on short and choose lowest price, review 1,526 wines, remember to add in auction premium, I have bought there since 1985 with very good success, usually save 10% to 30%

8/1/2019 10:15:00 PM - Hi, in response to your question. I buy all my Del Dotto wines from the winery. I have had the pleasure of visiting Del Dottto 6 Times in the past 8 years. The cave tour and hospitality is excellent. I have purchased wine after each visit and have also purchased direct from the winery. Dave Del Dotto's style is the perfect match for my taste and style preferences. I do not believe that they sell retail. If I could find this wine in local retail,I would grab it before it sells out. It's delicious.

9/9/2017 7:21:00 AM - Following this post. Curious if you found that killer sub $40 Napa cab. I've been on a search too. I've recently been into Oakville Winery cab. Got it sub $40 at Costco and was impressed. Slightly less interesting but in the same price range is Hall Napa cab. I'm also a fan of Heitz but feel it needs more cellar time than most in this range.

8/4/2017 6:05:00 AM - Hey Wino.....Bonita is just 30 min up the road from us. Maybe we need to open a few select bottles this winter? The wineries you have listed are all very good. I am a wc member at Brown and love their zins. They have a new tasting room in downtown Napa, but I love the old barn out in the hills past Kuleto. Their cab is underappreciated IMO. Hopefully you get to ,meet Mike Smith of Myriad. Cool guy, tons of knowledge. We are heading to Bourdeax same time you are in Napa. I am trying hard to expand my knowledge. Going with the owner of VGS/Chateau Potelle in St. Helena. You are going to love Napa. Cheers!

8/3/2017 9:36:00 PM - Wino...saw you are going to Napa end of August...unfortunately very few great cabs under $100/bottle now. However, contact Cimarossa (707-307-3130). They are in Angwin, on Howell Mtn. They make some spectacular cabs and Mia Klein is their winemaker. They do not have a tasting room per say but they do have a chalet on the top of the mountain they will take you to for a very special tour and tasting. It costs a little bit but it is well worth it and you have two hours of wonderful food trays and wine! They have 3 diff single vineyard cabs and a blend of all (the Rive de Cimarossa) every year. The single vins are $95-100 and the Rive blend $75.....just about every year the Rive outscores them all by Parker. I have had them all, I still have many and for my money, there is no better $75 cab left in Napa than this one. '13 was 95 pts and '14 is 92. LaJota is another great cab and it has been running in the $85 range but I believe they are moving up to around $100 with the next vintage. Another great Howell Mtn wine. Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards, not the other just Conn Valley Vineyards has some great cabs and blends in the $65-$125 range and the $95 cab can often be found online at around $60/bottle. Grab them if you see them. Fantastic! Kuleto, up in the hills east of Napa has about 5-6 diff cabs from $60 - $100. The "Napa" cab at $60 is pretty good. I think they have some '12 in stock. Round Pond is the same with numerous cabs/blends but their basic Rutherford cab got 91-92 pts from Galloni and at $60 is a steal. I have found it for as low as $48 in places. Bear in mind with all of these places you have to call ahead and get reservations for tastings, but they are all worth the price and time to sit and enjoy these great cabs/blends. Enjoy! Friend up if you like! Mark

6/22/2017 7:01:00 AM - I agree on the Lewelling. Appreciate the feedback. I will try some of your recommendations and get back to you in the Fall. Cheers

6/22/2017 6:06:00 AM - Winowhyno, those are all nice wineries. Although it's getting harder and harder to find high quality cabs for that price range out of Napa with prices continuing to go higher. Lewelling is still probably my favorite for the money with the entry level cab at around $45 and Reserve/Wight at $65. At $65, the Reserve/Wight really over achieves in my opinion. I recently had the 2013 vintage which was surprisingly drinking quite well despite its youth. I also like Mike Smith's entry level cabs with Myriad and Quivet but you can only really get them direct at around $65. He also makes Scarlett which also runs around $65 and is a nice value. You can usually find Scarlett in the secondary market at a decent price. However, they don't have a tasting room. Bounty Hunter does a pretty good job at getting wines in that price range that over achieve. They are in downtown Napa and are also online. I recently bought a bottle of the 2014 Rudy cab from them at a little over $20 and I thought it was quite good for the money. I look forward to your notes/thoughts from the trip. I'm always looking for quality wine in that price range. Take care.
