Opposed to the pronounced California fruit forwardness that others seem to be remarking on, this is exactly how I remember it when I tried it 2014.. still dominated by whole cluster overtones. Albeit more developed now, though very much in line with my initial impressions years ago. Bright acid will likely provide a number of years of life still.. regardless, it’s developed and drinking well now. Initial overtones of dried herbs, tomatoe leaf, roasted root vegetables and soil dominate the nose, which slowly give way to buried layers of dark cranberry, and very subtle florals with air. On the palate, the wine first feels smooth and expansive.. medium bodied.. than a burst of acidity takes hold and flavors of cranberry, orange rind, grapefruit and spice rush in.. only to be replaced with lingering layers of tomatoe leaf, soil and roasted root vegetables in the long finish. Subtle damp neutral barrel and whole cluster aromas remain in the empty glass. Very nice. While I could have waited to open my single bottle, it’s exactly what I was craving.. earthy, bright, whole cluster goodness. The wine becomes more subtly integrated with time, while still showing all the same nuances and complexities. Brighter acid keeps the entire wine in check and leaner overall. Paired 8/10 with mushroom risotto. 10/10 with plain steamed Red Swiss Chard!! Great synergy with chard! No complaints :)

No complaints. Big and bold. A nice change of pace from the abundance of Pinots in the PNW. Simple, brooding, dark, cherry cola and vanilla aromas and flavors. Resolved tannins with medium acidity, warming alcohol and a decent length in finish. Perfect for steak and potatoes.

Unexpectedly.. dominated by brett upon opening.. which unfortunately completely hides the varietal character. Definitely has the natural wine vibe going on. Enjoyable medium bodied weight and texture.. with fine, fine, dusty drying tannins. Overall, easy drinking, old world, good value, brett bomb. Love this producers Muscadet, not so much this bottling. Not bad for a natural wine, just not my preferred style anymore..
