Three years later, and it’s still holding up to my previous review. A delicious, typical Oregon Pinot: Lovely nose of berries, barnyard and petroleum. Delicious taste of dark fruit with a long finish on totally resolved tannins. Easily a 96 now and as good as a top label French burgundy costing hundreds more. This time we had a 1.5 liter bottle and if memory serves, it’s even better than the 750 we had three years ago. Both are truly great American wines that aged magnificently over 20 years.

Drinking beautifully after 10 years. Classic Willamette barnyard nose with a tiny bit of petroleum. Tanins close to fully resolved. The fruit is still big and ripe, with red flavors dominating black. A wonderful Oregon wine.

Good things come to those who wait. This Cal Pinot has matured into something Oregon or even Burgundy would be proud of. Big damn nose of red fruit, barnyard and petroleum. Lovely mixed berries taste, fading slightly but not faded. Tanins utterly resolved leaving a silky mouthfeel that goes on forever. This is a magnificent American wine. Good luck finding any.
