Med(+) Garnet. Med intensity nose: Jammy, cigar box, Cassis, plum, raspberry. This vintage is 60% Cab Sauv, 30% Graciano, 10% Garnacha. It’s an old favourite that represents impressive value for the money - even without a staff discount. Pronounced intensity on the palate. Dry. Body is medium. Acidity is medium. Tannins medium too. So a nice balance. The finish is decent and carried by the fruit more than the acidity. This is an interesting wine that is probably punching above its price point.

A 50mm natural cork enclosure. A deep ruby/garnet in colour. On the medium intensity nose there is cedar, plum, jam, spoce, dark fruit, vanilla, liquorice and caramel. So definitely complex. On the palate, with a med. body, has pronounced intensity, high acidity, med(+)fine tannin and a lovely balance. The length is very decent but not amazing. The alcohol leaves its mark at the end however, but that said, it’s a bottle I’d happily buy again.

Diem5 enclosure, 40mm. Bright gold in colour. Medium intensity nose. On the palate it’s high intensity with an acidity that would put a rielsing to shame. Complex enough: apricot, lime, apple, vanilla, orange, some dried fruits too. The searing acidity unbalances it. It’s what I most readily think of when summarising. With the right food - something to match the acidity - it’d be great. I had no such food.
