Medium bodied, dark purple color, moderate acid and low tannins. Intriguing nose of coffee grounds, dark chocolate and black currant. Nice combination of chocolate and dark fruit on the palate. Moderately long finish with a pleasant flavor of ripe plums. Very impressed with the complexity and balance of this wine. I would highly recommend this wine to anyone looking for a good example of carmenere.

A very modern approach to Albarino. Could have confused it with a NZ Sauv Blanc in a blind tasting. Aromas of ripe grapefruit and fresh cut grass. Medium-bodied on the palate with pleasant minerality and perfectly balanced acidity. Not a style of wine I would typically pick out, but I really enjoyed it a lot!

2009 Santi Ripasso della Valpolicella Classico Superiore Solane

Nice example of reasonably priced Valpolicella. Aromas of dried cherries and raisins. Palate is dominated by ripe cherries. Somewhat extracted (to be expected at 13.5% abv). For $13 it's a nice deal.
