This wine is on fire right now. So weighty and textural, with tons of gravitas. Like a mineral-driven Loire Chenin, it has a lot of golden fruit and even a little honey, but with a distinct marine element, like licking an oyster shell by the ocean. This wine had acid, texture, fruit, and minerality all at very high levels, but they stayed in balance with one another. A super impressive high wire act, we just absolutely loved this wine.

Statuesque. Have you ever looked at a pile of rocks and thought “I wonder what those would taste like if I ran them through a juicer?” Well, drink this wine and find out. I have never had a wine so aggressively mineral. Sharp edges, sculpted from stone, unforgiving, angular. We decanted and let it sit for a couple hours, which softened it a little, bringing out more herbal and tropical notes. Don’t let the 9g/l residual fool you—this is very dry. A lot of phenolic bitterness on the finish. Think quinine, grapefruit pith, etc. Very green on the nose—would have said Gruner.
Recommend letting this sit a while longer and air out thoroughly before drinking.

With no tasting notes in the past ten years, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Really good mix of plum, cedar, thyme, eucalyptus. Nicely integrated tannins and acid. It has held up really well and is drinking in a sweet spot right now, if a touch hot.
