On the nose: aromas of raisins, figs and molasses. On the palate: candied cherries, dates and black pepper. I like this port but not more than the Taylor 10 year. I agree completely with the previous tasting note. The packaging is great but the wine is fairly straightforward. I would rather spend an additional $10 for the purchase of a bottle of Taylor 20 which is much more complex and elegant. Not a re-buy for me.

I drink my fair share of Washington State Syrah. The nose is hot with a bit of blackberry showing through. On the palate, blackberry, graphite and black pepper. The downfall of this wine is the lack of complexity on the midpalate. If you know where to look, $22 can be better spent.

I wouldn't even cook with this. Carlin de Paolo should be embarrassed by this effort. Watery, bitter and undrinkable. I'm not happy to have three more bottles in my cellar. That's what I get for believing that a $15 Barbaresco might be half-decent. Lesson learned.

11/28/2012 9:05:00 AM - I'm sorry that your bottle of 10 WW Gramercy Syrah was corked. If you send your name & address to me at greg@gramercycellars.com, I will replace the bottle for you ASAP. TCA and bacterial infection in general is something we are obsessed about. it drives me nuts when our bottles aren't enjoyed as they are meant to be.
