This is better than it has any right to be. Very rich without being too concentrated. It's an excellent food wine (better than most cab sav dom wines in the same price range) and pairs with almost anything. I'd say you can't go wrong with an easy on the wallet entry point.

This one is passed its peak of primary fruit but still enjoyable with all the classic Bordeaux tertiary notes - leather, tobacco, dried strawberries, black truffle. Tannins soft and resolved. You can tell this was a very well made wine. It needed about 20 minutes to open but began to lose steam and fell apart after 3 hours. Be sure to drink it all in that window!

We paired this with Christmas dinner of roast beef tenderloin. I'd agree with a prior reviewer that it felt a bit disjointed. Tannins are still strong on the front end but the back end gives way to alcohol, making it feel out of whack. In the middle, however, were some very good flavors - plum, cassis, pine. Still enjoyable, but I'd like to try this one in a more well regarded vintage.
