Spectacular! Absolutely ripping Pinot right in the zone. It’s dark and brooding. My opinion for what it’s worth is that it’s likely peaking, but what would I know. Could keep going but when it’s drinking this well I recommend finding a reason to drink a bottle if you have one.
Top shelf hunter Shiraz from one of the best winemakers in the area. This is delicious stuff, just starting to hit its stride at 10 years of age. History would tell it has another good 5-6 years to start really singing, and very likely more than that given the the outstanding ‘14 hunter vintage. Yum.

8/17/2014 8:35:00 PM - Hi Raki, Thanks for your comment. I think it's a combination of always attempting to say what I smell and taste regardless of what the wine is, tasting blind when available and just the plain contrariness of my nose and palate on different days, in different locations tasting wines by themselves or with different wines. Additionally I don't prep myself for a tasting by reading either my own or anyone else's previous tasting notes - in fact I actively shun them...If you have a look at my notes on the Clonakilla 2010 SV you'll see what I mean: It's not so much that I taste different things on different occasions but more that sometimes those work for me and sometimes they don't. I'm the same with overoaked, overripe wines as well. Sometimes I love 'em, sometimes I hate 'em. I guess it just goes to show how subjective tasting is, at least, for me. And, if it's any consolation, it's terribly upsetting to fork out some major dosh to try a serious wine and then be disappointed by it. Having said that I did enjoy my tasting of the 2005 Chateau Latour so consider this an open invitation to come to dinner if you're bringing one along :-), cheers, chatters

A really strong showing here. Tertiary flavours add a lot of interest. I can’t see it improving, peak drinking in my opinion. 👍🏽
