2nd bottle from this vintage that was flawed. Nose was solid, but the wine was terrible. In addition to the previous bottle, This one has a slight effervescent quality that is 100% not what you’re looking for from this wine.
This bottle opened with the amazing nose you would expect from a la Rata - and faded from there. The wine was thin on the palate, with restrained or absent elements of the wine I was hoping to drink. Held about 1/3 of the bottle to try the next day and found it further faded. Possibly a flawed bottle? It was not corked and was picked up directly from Full Pull. Certainly not up to the standard of previous vintages I have had the pleasure to try.
Still holding on, but fading fast. This note os for two bottles drunk over the last month or so (a library purchase at the Jet City location late this summer) One was far past prime - pruny and diminished. The second was right on the razor's edge of being too far gone, but beautifully faded in a way that only 100% Grenache can be. This is a good bell weather for this wine - 5-7 years seems to be the sweet spot for aging. Drink 'em if you've got 'em!
