Color- beautiful ruby red Nose- black currant, pencil shavings Mouth- medium + acid, got all the structured notes just hasn’t come together. Definitely needs time and has quite a bit of baby fat even after a 3 hrs decant (2+ years to show itself).
Look forward to trying again in a year.

Tasted in 2013 in a wine class and decided to pick up a couple bottles. First bottle opened in 2016, thinking it would be near top of its game then. Drat, never left a tasting note but I recall the experience vivildy thinking, “all day 90 pointer at its apex.” Lo and behold, I found the other bottle stashed in the back. Here we are six years later...
War in Ukraine, inflation at dizzying numbers, lines of work and life ever so blur...yet I found a teleportation device back to a simpler time. What a grand experiment this would be.
Surely, 2016 was at its apex so this would likely be a bit of a let down, or so I thought! Ah damnit, the cork split...10 mins later trying to fish out the remaining cork cocked in the bottle. Nose hit like Black Rob, “Whoa!” This mature seductress caught me completely flat footed.
Silky tanins (don’t listen to others, the tanins are still very much alive and well). A long beautiful finish and the bar has been raised. Everything is just so balanced. My experience with RdDs is usually some component out expressed the other whether it’s the tanins, the finish, the smell but here everything is in utter perfect harmony!
Definitely a top 10 wine experience for me given my limited time tasting (9 years) but this one definitely left a lastin impression. Ok, less typing more drinking. Salud!
