Tasted at the winery. Another hugely extracted, high alcohol, high oak offering from Caymus. Slightly better than the 2012 but not much. I can think of a lot of wines that offer similar traits to the Caymus for less money.
Check out the 2013 Hall Cab. It'll cost you half what the Caymus does and delivers the goods, in my opinion. That said, this bottle flies off of the steakhouse shelves from what my ITB friends say. A name still means a lot.

Hugely extracted, heavily oaked. Pretty one dimensional. Has a pretty full mouthfeel and a medium+ finish, but not something I'd go back for. 2012 seemed to be a vintage where this bottle changed. The 2010 was more elegant, to my palate, and a much better wine.
I think it's pretty well made and the fruit is extremely focused. I love Napa fruit bombs but I think this is an 87-88 point wine living off of its pedigree (instead of what is in the bottle), which is a shame because every time a vendor takes me to dinner someone wants to order this. Poor QPR.

Super primary. Fruit hidden by disjointed alcohol and tannins. 3 hours in decanter didn't help things much. Next day: alcohol & tannins still dominate. I'd guess this needs 3+ years to start to come together. Will wait on my remaining bottles.
