The Italian wine press rates this as one of the best rosés of Italy. Who am I to disagree? Richer in flavor than most rosés. Goes well with Mediterranean grilled food in the summer, and with fried calamari the year 'round.

This is from the infamous year when the vinyards froze, and the people, too, as I remember. Nevertheless this Siran has turned out very well, especially for those who had the patience to let it develop. Lovely cedar pencil nose, followed by still firm tannins and restrained fruit. Austere. Fine with food.

We have a household category of "delicious Côtes du Rhone" of which the CdT/CdR is a perfect example. Rich, fruity, but with serious backbone that lets you know the magic combination of Rhone grapes and warm sunshine is at work in your glass. Excellent to drink by itself, but most satisfying in colder weather with a stew or roast. The Trignon CdR Villages wines are a step up (especially the Rasteau) but the plain old CdR seems to be an outlet for overproduction of neighboring Gigondas. Unbeatable at the price.
