Found at the back of my very cold cellar qnd was about to pour it out--but decided to taste it. Wow! My wife and I were in a cullinarily nostalgic mood and had it with Chicken Marbala out of the Silver Palate cookbook. Wonderfully fragrant--the viognier and syrah are still in harmony. Whoever has the 5 remaining bottles, drink them at cellar temperature and enjoy. Kudos to Beckmen.

Found this well hidden in my wine cellar. Assumed it was well over the hill. Screw cap. Luckily tasted before pouring down the drain. Surprise----nice cherry nose with an earthy, dark cherry, berry taste--and very nice with a copper river salmon filet baked in butter. Chalk it up to a talented winemaker and a good cellar. I have two more---definitely time to drink up if you got'em.

One on the only pluses of the pandemic is that I actually got to the back of the cellar where I stashed the cases of the 2001 and 2002 Donnhoffs. First out of Box #1 is the 2002 Schlossbockelheimer Kupfergrube Spatlese AP 77530100903 purchased from Dee Vine Wines in SF. Served with a wonderful Harbison cheese from Murray's. This is one complex wine and I'm not sure I have the skill to describe it fully. It's really really good--pear, lime, tropical fruit, and lots of slate. No petrol at all. Less sweet than the ones I had in 2005. A perfect match with its fantastic acid for the cheese
