last bottle was pretty bad until like 4 hours in. this is a year or 2 later and i used the coravin on it to slowly drink it because i find it helps for young wine. once it opens up it really is a great wine especially for how cheap it is. drink now if you have more than one but give it a good long decant

okay so I am running out of space in my fridge and have 2 of these, and had 2 of the better rating 2010s coming so decided to coravin one of them despite the fact that these other reviews make it seem like this wine is absolutely impenetrable at this age and you need to wait. well, if you only have one or infinite storage space, obviously wait. but this is still an enjoyable wine as is right now. Now I like dry tannic wines and young wines but even I have encountered a young barolo or brunello that was just plain not enjoyable at the time despite being promising. this is NOT that. yes it was tannic but if you give it enough time to open up and shake it around a lot, or even better coravin a glass at a time slowly, you will be rewarded. this was excellent and the fact that the 2010 is apparently even more approachable than this is I am hitting myself for not getting more than 2 because I'd love to try one of those now! if you don't have multiple wait, but if you want a delicious wine to drink go for it (but splash decant it and let it sit for at least 3 hours in my opinion)

okay... I can't do this bottle justice with words but the first time I had it a year or 2 ago all 4 of us said it was the best wine we had ever had and I can say that while pricey, I am glad I bought another and it did not disappoint despite the huge expectations. So much beautiful fruit with just the right amount of dryness and acidity to balance it out... I could not have enough of it its a wine you could just gulp down a bottle of in 30 minutes but its so good you have to restrain yourself (glad I only split the bottle 2 ways this time). I did however just track down a magnum of it in the UK so will report back and see if it truly is as good as I imagine (will be having it with some other ppl this time). imo no point in waiting, drink up. had the 2004 earlier this year and despite the better ratings imo it doesnt hold a candle to this one but perhaps it is just my taste. This 2009 was much more full bodied and powerful and had such delicious fruit. the 2004 was lighter and more savoury. still good but for the price not really worth it. tasted more like a pure shiraz while the 2009 there is no doubt it contains viognier
