Over three days in the glass. The wine comes from vines over 90 years old. It was matured 100% in Mosel fuder cask.
On the first day, a strong Sponti stinker came out of the bottle. I then decanted the wine and put it back in the fridge open.
On the two following days, the tone was more subtle, with a little stall still noticeable; the wine otherwise offers a restrained, very beautiful nose of yellow, ripe apples, a few citrus fruits and white flowers; a little rosemary and wet stone are also noticeable.
On the crystal-clear palate, the yellow, ripe fruit with a slate-like minerality initially pushes forward discreetly. In the middle, the wine has a deep substance with a light creaminess and a fine sweetness. The powerful, yet ripe and round acidity that follows corresponds with the creaminess and sweetness of the body in such a balanced way that I have rarely experienced in a Kabinett. The wine has a perfect inner balance and is very elegant and harmonious.
A great Kabinett with a great price-performance ratio! The wine is already nice to drink now, but can also be kept and matured for many years to come.

Aroma of sweet stone fruit (peach, apricot); a few exotic aromas; slightly smoky-tobacco and wet stone; very nice nose!
Very juicy and fruity on the palate with a clearly sweet core; some caramel; lots of melting and creaminess; beautiful light minerality; then comes a very lively, lemony acidity that is not particularly well integrated; some grip from the tannins at the end; medium-long finish.
The wine lacks some of the depth and complexity that I expect from a Grosses Gewächs.

The wine is smoky, mineral, has a very subtle Riesling fruit and a wonderfully ripe, well-integrated acidity. There is a slight tannic grip at the end. Everything is subtle and in the right balance.
An excellent "Ortswein" that is wonderful to drink now, but also has plenty of potential for ageing.
