I opened this bottle with some trepidation based on the prior reviews that suggested that the wine was over the hill, funky, earthy, and tired. Fortunately, I found that those reviews were describing a completely different wine - this was absolutely delightful, probably the best wine I've had in the last year (at least).
Visually, the wine is ruby with little fade at the rim. On the nose, there is primary fruit, mostly raspberry, with just a hint of secondary aromas - mushroom and forest floor, with some unobtrusive oak.
On the palate, the wine shows moderate tannin and body, and moderately high acid. Flavors mirror the nose and add a hint of complexity to come with a long finish.
The wine is just entering its drinking window, and I'd expect it to evolve further and last another 10 years or so.

Lemon yellow, watery rim. Nose of citrus and peach. Some oak, but not prominent. Similar flavors on palate. Just entering its drinking window. Med-hi acid, full bodied, round mouthfeel, long finish. Has that somewhat indescribable W Burg quality that makes me want more after it is gone. No hint of premox.

Disappointing. Have had this before and was much better. Overwhelming notes of olives, fully evolved, not much fruit. Bottle may be flawed or compromised.

12/21/2013 4:41:00 PM - Matt, are my emails going into your junk mail? I loaded your bulk import weeks ago, less than an hour after you sent it to me. And I just replied to you twice and heard nothing, nada, zip, zilch back.
