  • 2016 Arnaud Lambert Saumur Brézé Clos David

Pale gold and medium + intensity after a few minutes, definitely developing. Primary flavours left were lots of yellow apple, orange peel and lemon. Butterscotch, bread and toast but the tertiary aromas were very evident. Hay, honey, toast, cinnamon and dried apple. I was worried it would be too late to drink but the fresh fruit flavours really came out on the palate and acidity was spot on with a medium + finish. I expected longer but very satisfying. Didn't think it would have developed this fast.

hazy but not faulty deep gold. Medium intensity on the nose with aromas of ripe lemon, lemon peel, orange peel, yellow grapefuit and a hint of over ripe yellow apple, plus some flint, wett stone and hint of honey. On the palate flavours of intense lemon juice and yellow apple, some wet stone, medium intensity. Dry, medium acitiy, full body, medium (+) finish.

  • 2016 Perelada Empordà 5 Finques Reserva

Medium ruby in colour, but beginning to turn garnet. On the nose a medium + intensity with aromas of blackberry, black plum, black currant and overwhelming smoke, cedar, charred wood, coconut from the oak and hints of leather, forest floor and tobacco. On the palate it is dry, medium + acid, med + body, med + tannings, and medium plus intensity on the palate, although the fruit is much more prominent than on the nose, with red fruits coming out significantly. The finish is medium + although after the fruit disappears you're left with a little green flavours. Can easily last another 10 years.
