Garnet. On the nose: over-ripe plum, boxwood, red currant, raspberry, light chocolate and faint tobacco. On the palette: peppery, bright, medium+ tannins, orange peal, aperol, raspberry. Very nice, only downside is the slightly harsh bitter notes.
Was going strong after 2 days in the cupboard. Sweeter, more plum. Less boxy. Great with pungent cheeses. 87 --> 89

Quite light for Medoc. Perfectly good wine but not extraordinary. Bright red fruits, marked acidity, plum, some sweet tobacco notes (I had hoped for more), light cedar. My impression is that it is unbalanced, with less acidity perhaps the deeper fruit flavour would have come through better.

This is the kind of wine Europeans make fun of Americans for liking. Very hefty vanilla and oak, even artificial maybe. It’s more like a smokey Chardonnay than a Pinot. Butter, minerals, woody spice. I don’t mind it but it’s in a league of its own.
