Cork was not in great shape - just ok enough. The wine was still quite high up the neck which was good sign. For a 53 year old it was OK. Still red (dark) and no sign of brown in colour, clear in the glass. Fruit had faded with a bit lingering in background. Typical Bordeaux tannins but a touch too much as fruit is not as pronounced. Old cigars, earthy fungi on nose and palate. It is exactly what an old Bordeaux tastes like. It would not be liked if one likes younger fruit driven wine. I think tomorrow it will have faded a bit.

Dark berry colour. Gentle tannins with the berries continuing on the nose and palate along with coffee/chocolate. Soft in texture. The fruit had started receding but still enjoyable with aged secondary flavours. I suspect many would prefer to have drunk it younger so more of the fruit could be enjoyed
Clear amber toffee colour. Raisins nuts on the nose. On first glass the spirit dominated the nose and palate but gave way to balanced fruit sweetness acidity gentle tannins. Given it was 50 years old it wasn’t past its best and was drinking very nicely.
