It has been over 2 years since I last tried a bottle. Opened and slow ox'd for three hours. Took to our local Italian BYOB for dinner with friends. Fruit and dried flowers on the nose. The palate was berries, red cherry, red plums, hints of tobacco and touch of oregano on the finish which was relatively long but not as vibrant as I remember hence the lower rating. Also took into consideration we drank it alongside a 2009 Barbaresco Paje Reserva which in my opinion was the better wine.

Dark and concentrated, nothing out of place, quite expressive just after 12 years of age, which for a Brunello Riserva is a good result, with very (too much?) smooth tannins. Unfortunately the wine was next to others which were much more lively at a similar age so it's difficult to rate it higher. Long persistend finish is anyway part of the baggage that this wine take where it goes.

My guests on the other hand preferred the Conti.

Opened and slow ox'd for three hours. Took to our local Italian BYOB for dinner where we poured through a vintorio. Fruit and dried flowers on the nose. The palate was berries, red cherry, red plums, hints of tobacco and touch of sage on the finish which was relatively long. A really nice bottle of BDM.
