Opened to aromas of wood, peat, chocolate, malt and even scotch. Let open for 1.5 hours before serving with meal. Continued to taste along the way. Tastes of wood, pepper, some dark cherries and eucalyptus. I expected that at some point a fruit taste would come through but it really didn't. About an hour in there was some dried cherry taste but minimal. The wood dominated. None the less it was a very good wine which was enjoyed with a dinner of veal cutlets and pumpkin ravioli; just didn't meet expectations. After 4 hours opened the taste remained pretty much the same.

Drank over two nights, poured through vinituri both nights. Only slight improvement on day 2. Sour cherry, leather. Decent length if a bit simple. Overly tannic, this tastes like it saw too much wood. Biggest complaint, however: there's enough alcohol on the nose to knock you over (14.5%). Disappointing. I've had better normale bottlings from this producer. 86-87pts.

Definitely the highlight of the evening, great Brunello and excellent with food (had it with Osso Buco). Very long, well-rounded and fantastically aged.

10/1/2016 - brubron Does not like this wine:
Gone.
Immediate nose of prunes. This blew off after a few hours, but the wine underneath never came together.
