Very dark in color. nose of dark fruits and berries that was very nice, but not as flamboyant as was expected from this fruit source. Flavors followed this theme -- very good, but missing the enveloping layers of flavor and not overwhelmingly delicious as you would expect from fruit near the top of Clos Vougeot. Still very tannic, I would give it another 5 years and try again. Finish was long and satisfying. It was a very nice bottle that opened up over an hour, but wasn't the awe inspiring experience one hopes for in a Grand Cru from a top site. Likely a bit unbalanced due to the heat of 2003 growing season. reminded me of a fruit-bomb California PN.
