  • Kirsch, molasses, leather, blood, iron, garrigue, tapenade, and crushed black rock. Black fruited, with some additional cinnamon & dark chocolate flavors on the palate. Upon opening, there is a nice acidity, if a bit prickly on the finish. In time, the texture becomes more velvety & the finish more seamless. Drinking well, now to 2020.

  • Starting to look a little bricky. A dark, reduced wine showing charred black fruit, chocolate, asphalt and black pepper. Thick texture. A very peppery finish with a pronounce tart edge. Develops a pleasing floral note. Seems a little tired. Another syrah from "cool" Santa Barbara that mimics Barossa.

  • Night One: Reduction on the nose and palate. Big, dark syrah. Tasted just like an Alban Reva from the late '90s or early '00s.

Night Two: Most of the reduction had blown off. Still very dark fruity with some smoke and earth showing. Great pairing with Moroccan spice marinated lamb.

  • Wow! I forgot how good this wine can be. Dark, earthy, musty, grainy, bloody. We opened his up on the 4th of July to eat with BBQ brisket. Even though it was hot outside this was a perfect compliment. This wine is no where close to maturity. I wish I had more.

  • When I first opened this I was not too thrilled. Very dark, dark fruit, smoke, bacon nose. Borders on over-ripe on the palate-its a whopper...oaky, fruity, plummy. Finishes with some brash tannins. It was a monster out of the gate. However, with air it slowly mellows, more smoe and meaty notes come out. It settles into an interesting place. It's still massively endowed, and if the fruit hold out, seems like it could 5 more years easy. Interesting, really, not sure how much I like this. Enough to keep drinking it.
