It is the best pure Italian merlot I have ever tasted. Drunk in its apogee. In the fifteen years since the harvest it has certainly grown, softened and expresses all the best qualities that the vineyard care and winemaking of the fantastic Querciabella winery have given it. Freshly opened you have to wait at least an hour before tasting (without a decanter!). Then once glassed, it has a beautiful color-a dense, rich ruby. The nose shows strawberry jam, ripe cherries, eucalyptus, mint and chocolate, tobacco. In the mouth the tannins are outstanding and caress the palate. A beautifully toned, elegant and velvety merlot. Exceptional deep note of slightly salty red jam on the finish, very long.

Tasted @ Querciabella. 100% Merlot. Attractive nose of sweet dark cherries, flowers and minerals. On the palate there are also notes of dark chocolate. Medium-full body with medium tannin and acidity. Very fresh and elegant. Good length.

Somewhat disappointed by this. Lacked boldness or concentration but mostly not enough acid to keep it interesting.

Tuscany holiday spring 2014; 4/11/2014-4/18/2014 (Tuscany (San Gimignano)): 100% Merlot, 19 months in barrel. Quiet a bright nose, something like red plums ? some soft vanilla spice, plenty of red stone fruit, very good length
