Some menthol and tar, bit of vanilla on finish. Some nice dark black fruit sits in the middle and gives good flavors and mouthfeel. Decanted 2 hours and it needed it to fully open.

The wine looks violet colored. The legs are slow. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, black currant (cassis), cranberry, prune, fig, forest floor, mushroom, medium toast, cedar, cinnamon and clove. It tastes like blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, black currant (cassis), raisin, smokey bacon, toast, clove and stoniness. The body is medium/full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity. May be a bit past the peak but only recently decanted. So much going on in the glass.

Likely at or close to its peak drinking. Smooth with lots of dark fruit, tobacco and leather. Still nice acidity and finish. Paired well with ribeye steak dinner.

Lift and liveliness is gone. Still in good shape but the excitement is gone. Signature of the ripe vintage perhaps. Still a nice nose and lingering finish with tobacco and graphite.
