Nose: Blueberry, cocoa, cherry preserve, and red plum notes. Strawberry fruit rollups. Bits of mint, wild berries and spice. Palate: dense and silky mouthfeel, lots of glycerin, plum, cherry jam, orange rind, mint and some good acid to lighten everything up. Finish: pronounced tart berry notes and cherry preserves. Cocoa, cedar and some vanilla from the oak.
A large scaled glass of Napa Cab that has a sense of balance despite the size. This is very much in the style that Benoit likes to make, and reflects the push / pull in many of his wines. You sense the warmth, but just as it begins to feel like too much acidity and tannin bring it back. Much better than the last bottle and enjoyable, but QPR holds this back a bit for me.

Nose: cooked raspberry, alcohol, luxardo cherry and prune. Palate: Begins actually seeming tired with bruised cherry, fig and browning notes. Ripe fruit, jammy and a bit of residual sugar. Finish: Cherry, blackberry jam and franchise, touch of sage as well. .
Overall this just does not work for me. There is a lot of wine that is made in this style far less expensive that give the full throttle, extracted experience just as well. Neither expressing the terroir, nor having much freshness.
Boozy and a bit clumsy.

Decanted for 90 minutes and consumed over the next 3 hours. This bottle was pretty. Body, texture, taste, and flow are all held within an elegant structure. It does not come stacked with tiers of flavors although it maintained my interest. As with many bottles, it comes down to whether it fulfills enough of one's personal needs of satisfaction to warrant the the price tag. Not so sure.

Great straight from the cellar as a stand in for a less than stellar bottle. Love this stuff.
