Wine 1: Louis Roederer Collection 243 NV Champagne.
Paired with crab salad bites on crisps.
One of my favorite big name NV champagnes. Delicate and fine bubbles. Citrus and brioche nose. Lemon, brioche, green apple on the palate. Great mouthfeel and high acidity. Great stuff!

From the batch disgorged February 2022 and released August 2022 (as revealed by the Louis Roederer app scanning the label).
The nose is quite forward but a little difficult to pin down: there's some minerality, just a touche of brioche, and a faintly herbal note which I'm struggling to name.
The palate starts with crisp red fruit, but the mid-palate is quickly rather creamier and soft, before a finish which stays just on the right side of cloying, but isn't as crisp as I prefer. For my taste I feel that the dosage (8g) is a little high.
Overall, at this point I much prefer the 242 which I drank a few weeks ago. There's nothing wrong with this 243; it's a very good wine but it's just a bit bland and lacking in freshness for my palate, perhaps due to the rather ripe 2018 base vintage.

On the nose: Citrus, toast, brioche.
On the palate: Brioche, toast, citrus, green apple and pear. Medium finish.
Decent champagne (which still means top of the sparkling game) but not really memorable.
