Very ripe black fruits in the spotlight and quite an open nose. Fresh acidity stops it feeling too much in the mouth for me. A bit more tannic than I was expecting - though maybe this is appelation which I've never tasted before. Felt softer in the following days.

So I really liked the 2019 from Desvignes and thought it was good value, so I was surprised to see the 2020 languish in stock for so long. I did note the reviews, especially the one from JR.
In the glass, dark purple, very deep, nearly opaque! But a lovely nose of dark purple fruits, plum, and then some all spice. On the palate, much lighter bodied than the colour would suggest, more dark fruit but ultimately too fleeting, zipping across the palate to be replaced by tannins and a slightly green note. Short finish. 88pts

Sour cherry with funk.
Clearly very hot vintage. 14.5%! but still fresh with good acidity.
Overall a bit simple.

La Paulee Off-Grid; 2/24/2023-2/25/2023 (26 Bridge St., Brooklyn, NY): Walk-around tasting. Too ripe and fruity. Cherry cough syrup. “Basic” Pinot noir.
