Banana and spice and a nice touch of oak. Both my wife and I both said this was reminiscent of a Gewurtztraminer. I suggest drinking at a warmer temperature and giving some time in the glass to open up. In an interesting spot right now. It’s between youthful fruit and an oak-aged SB.

Banana and coconut on the nose. These notes also come through on the palate, which has good acidity and is really smooth. Nice balance with a touch of salinity. A well-made wine at a fair price.

Sourced exclusively from the Crocker Estate in Saint Helena, this wine is comprised entirely of Sauvignon Blanc that was whole cluster pressed and fermented in a combination of concrete eggs (69%), used French oak (20%) and stainless steel (11%). The wine was then aged sur lies for nine months in the fermentation vessels. Popped and poured, it offers an aromatic package of lime zest, kiwi, passion fruit, lemon verbena, jasmine and wet stones. Medium-bodied, crisply acidic and without noticeable alcohol (listed as 14.4%), it delivers flavors in line with the aromas, weaving in a modicum of spicy oak. With good mid-palate density and an energetic, lengthy finish, this is another outstanding Crocker & Starr Sauvignon Blanc that can be uncorked and served without requiring significant aeration. Enjoy it at any time over the next 3-4 years. Drink now-2027.
