Well this was not horrible but it is not great either. It has a certain mustiness to it and is dominated by lemony acidity that overwhelms pretty much everything else about the wine. Temperature did not seem to have much of an affect on the way it drank, nor did air and time. The must extended to the nose, along with the citrus notes. There was a long, citric finish but it was more annoying than scrumptious.

My second bottle of this and the message is that you only get what you pay for, often less but never more. This is just a mediocre bottle of win and a mediocre bottle of Chablis. Kind of bitter and totally lacking in any charm or sophistication. Way over priced for what it is.

(MONTMAINS Pinson Chablis) 2007 Chablis Holiday Special Dear Friends, This was just confirmed last night and it qualifies for our first Holiday Special. I would have waited until the work-week to put this out but I only have until Monday a.m to confirm or the parcel goes to another (probably Belgium) so here goes... The 2007 Chablis vintage needs no introduction and this set of wines represents one of the finest price/value relationships in high-end white Burgundy - it's that simple. For under $25 you have two potentially outstanding examples with verve, clarity, cut and substance to burn. Pinson delivered a cache of top wine in 2007 and I'm certain from tasting most of the better houses (more than once) that they are not only competitive from a qualitative standpoint but can usurp many of the top contenders once in bottle. You can check pricing on Fevre or other 2007's from the same vineyards for comparison but the cut-rate pricing below speaks for itself. While I disdain when retailers make comments like "you'll regret not buying this" or "buy two cases!" or "this is a must-purchase" (no wine qualifies as a must-purchase, food is a must purchase), in this case pick your catch-all phrase as they almost qualify. How about "these are quite tempting to stock up on" - that's tame enough but you get the point. Two fabulous buys on top-tier Burgundy. This parcel is directly from the cellars at Pinson and will arrive in early 2009: 2007 Domaine Pinson Chablis 1er "Montmains" (BH89-91) 2007 Domaine Pinson Chablis 1er "Vaillons" (BH88-91) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Burg7608 Burg7609

Yellow with hints of orange, nose of lemon, curd, molasses and vanilla. Stoney lemon, smoke and lime flavors. Good.

Monthly Tasting Group: Loads of CDP's and more (Meritage, St. Paul): Pale gold color. Tasted one glass over 15 minutes. This was decidedly bland. Lacks any particular personality. A little citrus, a lot of nothing else.
