A Northern Rhone Dinner with Doug; 7/22/2017-7/23/2017 (Chez Senna): Medium+ yellow colored with a lightly sweet and tropical nose with a hint of almond. Smooth and dense on the palate, with dry tropical flavors mixed with a dollop of unsweetened butterscotch. Finishes slightly bitter with some nuttiness coming through. Will not improve; drink now.
Paired very well with a lettuce and onion soup.

Mature both in color and nose. This is definitely ready to go and slightly passed peak. Notes of petrol, hazelnuts and honey. Dense and viscous but with plenty of acid to bring it together. Persistent and long finish. A big, cozy, winter kind of white for me. Love these Wachau whites.

Friday Afternoon at Domaine (Domaine Wine Storage): Very interesting wine. Fair amount of botrytis on the nose with subtle nuttiness, lemon, apple and minerals. Palate was smooth as hell with dense herbal, spice and pear tones. The flavors were big and dense and teetered on the edge of being a bit too big - however this still had nice acidity and balance.
