Excellent. The cork had somewhat disintegrated, but the wine was well aged. Despite the recommendations on this website, this wine is not past it's prime. Garnet to tawny in color. Aromas of earth and leather. On the palate, had leather, tiny bit of licorice, but also lots of red fruit, mainly raspberry. Great body, but mellowed now after 19 years. Opened up well over a few hours. We had with Thanksgiving dinner and were all very happy.

Dinner at Osteria Langhe (Chicago, IL): This is a fairly nice wine, with a dose of ripe red fruit and some restrained earthiness on the nose. For the most part, this has the ripeness necessary to stand up to the oak treatment, which isn't over the top (as far as nebbiolo is concerned). However, that same treatment leaves a few too many oak tannins on the back end, which gives this wine a lot of bitterness on the palate that I detest (and am very sensitive to).

I think it’s too old. Nothing unpleasant but just muted flavors and aromas.
