Far too much oak for my taste. This seems like it probably had good underlying material, but 10 years of bottle age have tamed the fruit not the oak. Definitely not my cup of tea, and for Loire Chenin my cup is pretty wide. I'm a bit surprised this was something the folks at La Cremerie were into. Given that the price competes with Leroy, Morgat, and Huet, it's a no-brainer for me.

Dinner at Table, Donkey and Stick (Chicago, IL): I must confess to having never been super impressed by the Guiberteau wines, but perhaps the issue was that I had never had one with much age on it. This has really filled out very nicely -- the nose shows some waxy chenin character, as well as a fair bit of ripe peach. The palate is lean and crisp, with plenty of acidity, and there's a fullness here that rounds things out. This is quite mineral as well, but the most impressive part is that the palate feels much more complete and rounded than the younger iterations of this wine that I've had.

La bouteille n'a pas été carafée. Dégustée à l'aveugle
Belle couleur jaune brillant, scintillant.
