Has an earthy, saline nose. Smooth mouthfeel and medium acidity. Tannins are still quite firm and a little rough. There's a savory beef-like character on the palate, which moves away to reveal a lingering but subtle black cherry finish.

Opened and poured 1 glass on day 1, vacuvined and left on counter for 4 days - note from day 5. Nose: Medium expressiveness, candied cherry and bluberry, hints of pine and tar. Palate: Medium bodied, well balanced, red fruit and spice attack, nice mid-palate acidic presence to provide balance, back-end shows some earthy tones and ripe red fruit. Finish: Medium length, dominated by ripe red fruit, earth, and hints of spice. This sat, forgotten, on the counter for 4 days after opening (and vacuvining), and held up amazing well - as only a Nebbiolo would likely do. Not a great wine, but shows great character and staying power, if nothing else - a rare great value at <$20 from the Piedmonte.

Delicate for a Nebbiolo wine. Color is unusually clear ruby. Light weight mouth feel, yet sturdy flavors through out. Red cherry and cranapple? notes. Finishes with a surprise tart tannic bite. This is an Italian that can be enjoyed without food. More finesse than brawn, but not wimpy. Enjoyable.

Decanted 90 mins. Still quite tight, especially in the aroma. A little bitter, but smoothed out with food. That classic descriptor of "tar and roses" works here, with some cherries and black tea. After 4+ hours, a cigar box aroma started to emerge. I don't know that this will ever be a great wine, but a few years could certainly improve it. http://bit.ly/16wsGFD
