  • Pop n pour. Strict tannins disappeared after 10 min.
Great dark berries and tons of balsamic notes.
Lacking a bit depth for the year and plot imo.
Good and will drink at least another decade.

  • Same as the others about 75-90 mins of air in decanter. This one had no sediment. Beautiful freshest red fruit nose, cherries, strawberries. Ah the serralunga clay chalky soils. The youngest of the group but this has tannins and muscle even at year 13. Crunchy prototypical nebbiolo fruit with power but yet so light on its feet. Beautiful crisp cherry sweet fruit. Persistent acidity with a long tannic finish. This was the one paired with meal of porcini rubbed grilled filets and portobello mushroom risotto. Tannins were totally tamed by the food! Great wine and mine WOTN.

  • Decanted when cork broke… yet completely clear and fresh. Dark ruby red, woodsy balsamic nose that opens to heady floral notes over time. Smooth, smooth, smooth black/cassis fruit with a hint of spice and seamless mouthfeel, taste, and finish (and why don’t we drink Barolo more often, we asked ourselves?) Wow.

  • Deep dark ruby/garnet with some bricking towards the rim. Takes about 2 hours to open up aromatically. Deep, dark and powerful, with notes of dark plum, some dark cherries, tar, smoke, some iron, a touch of orange zest, cigar and some leather too. It‘s full-bodied, dense and powerful, with pretty high tannin (that is very good quality but very present), pretty high acidity and excellent overal balance. Long finish with complexity that is building up. A beautiful Marenca that is entering its drinking window but still has about 10 years ahead. Love the combination of richness, balance and austerity here.

  • In a great place right now and drank alongside a 2010 Pio Cesare, preferred this better. More depth, better integrations of tannins and a nice medium-long finish. Still plenty of life but definitely entering a nice place.
