A blanc de noirs style sparkler with grapes sourced from Oltrepó Pavese. Annual production 15,000 bottles.
Golden yellow color. Rich, complex and expressive nose with autolysis-driven aromas of toasted bread, brioche, dark cherry, earthy Pinot Noir spice, some nougat, a little butterscotch and a hint of peach. Rich and juicy medium-bodied palate with bone-dry, balanced flavors of roasted nuts, ripe citrus fruits, sweet red apple, some honey, a little nougat, a hint of black raspberry and a touch of bready autolysis. High acidity and brisk, persistent mousse. Crisp, long and complex finish with mineral-driven flavors, toasty autolysis, ripe cherry flavors, some notes of sweet vanilla pastry and a hint of ripe citrus fruit.
A wonderful Metodo Classico with some real seriousness. Exhibits lovely balance between bright structure and supple, autolytic palate. Definitely a challenger for high-quality Champagnes at a noticeably lower price. I am very positively surprised by this one and I can imagine it will develop nicely over short-to-medium term in the cellar.

Contratto / La Spinetta Visit (Canelli, Italy): Tart green and red apple, some rose, yeast, larger and fuller nose; larger on the palate though it maintains nice freshness; needs some richer food to pair with (grilled).
