Tasted blind and totally blew it, but loved this wine. Tasted so much different than the magnum I tasted earlier. I think it just needed air. Love the rocky, earthy, briny tones.

Blind tasting with buds (Washington, DC): Awesome nose of mulled cherries and blackberry, with musk, menthol, chewing tobacco, olive brine, library dust, some coffee and vanilla as well. Racy acidity whips through this wine from start to finish, and the tannins have a plush feel. Tart cherry and currants are laced with expressive notes of campfire, tar, grilled steak, green and black peppercorns. Crisp, expressive, lively, complex, this was really special. Tasted blind, I guessed late 90s Cornas.

A private tasting and dinner at a friend's (London, UK): Mature and smoky style, vinous and warm, black olive, red meat, medium weight, more about velvety tannins than about acidity at this stage, good length. Fully mature.
