Being honest, this 'second' Hermitage of Jaboulet was a little disappointing. Classical style and certainly delicious, but feels like it's resting on its laurels. Hefty, oaky, but lacking real complexity 🇫🇷
Alive at first opening, some characteristic perfumed blue fruit and black olive.
Pretty generous use of new oak, which thankfully doesn't overwhelm but gives a big wollop of leather. Full body but with good lift. Blackcurrant, plum, top soil, more old vanilla and subtle cream from the oak

Solid, but for the price level not outstanding. Comes across as a bit sturdy. Will keep for years to come, maybe will soften a bit in due time.

Some early signs of evolution/varietal flavor and aroma, but not quite there yet. Better, I suspect, in another year or two.

Easy to drink. Quite rounded with notes of oak, blackberry, chocolate and coffee. A bit too much oak makes it a bit blunt.

Licorice notes in the aroma. Juicy red cherry that mixes with milk chocolate on a very long finish. Hit its peak at about 45 minutes of decanting.
