  • Garnet colored - aired for two hours. Cherry/red fruited with harmonious structure - fine but mouth coating tannins. Pyrazines from the high proportion of Cab Franc are present as well. Drinking excellently right now.

  • I bought this to try something of the 2015 vintage where I don’t have much in my cellar (2 cases only I think). Opened for 3 hours. Color is quite deep ruby / purple. On the nose: Warm plums, cassis, hint of cinnamon, leather and graphite. Excellent nose. On the palate: Rich ripe plums, cassis, berry liquor , dark chocolate and baking spices. Very long and great depth of flavor. Never had this wine before. It is really good. I will go back to the store and see if they still have more. Very good value for money in this.

  • I wouldn't normally approach a 'grand' vin from a good vintage for 10 years.
However, having read the reviews on here, I was intrigued, so I did.

Decanted and left for an hour while Ireland beat England in the 6 Nations.

Deep ruby/ red colour and, with a swirl, dripping with legs.
On the nose graphite, smokey and spicy with ripe raspberries/ loganberries lurking in the background, but no mistaking a certain "greenness" from the cabernet franc.

Fruit more notable on the palate - merlot's plummy-cherry to the fore.
Noticeable tannins but not in a harsh way.

    I'm no wine expert.
I'm surprised this is drinking so well now. Will see how it pairs with dinner - sausage with white beans.

For my taste a bit out of balance now, but with time the ingredients are all there, and can only assume that more nuanced flavours on the nose and palate will develop in due course.

I bought a case of this wine with some money left to me in my ex-mother-in-law's will. This was my first bottle.

With each bottle, I will think of her and what a lovely woman she was.

  • This wine fires on all cylinders ... not a dull moment.

Knew it was going to be a good night upon uncorking.
An abundance of black fruits dancing through your glass.
The Merlot is already quite approachable, whilst the Cab Franc spices things up.
Another hole in one for Trotte Vieille ... with plenty of gas left in the tank.

Great wine, great vintage = buy buy buy !!!
