This was exceptional. Did not take detailed notes at the time, but wonderful complexity, subtlety, delicious flavor profile, well-integrated, perfect, light, smooth mouth feel. Perhaps the most impressive dessert wine I've tasted.

Dinner with Chris Blandy (Chicago, IL): I've had this wine before (from when Chris Blandy visited over five years ago), but I was a little shocked at how well this bottle showed. This is a slightly darker-complexioned madeira, showing a hint more brown sugar, but the exotic green herbs and lift is on full display. Exotic and wild in its flavour profile, but rounded in texture and acidity.

(Blandy's Madeira Terrantez) Medium dark red orange color with light yellow meniscus; appealing, lifted, roasted coffee, date cake nose; silky textured, rich, appealing, date cake, mocha, tart fig palate; long finish 90+ points

fireworks on the nose: lemon and lime candies, herbs, flowers, light-roast coffee, dates...
supple and smooth, full and sweet but there's a gorgeous acid line to keep it long and balanced
always a privilege to drink old Terrantez!

I had a blast sharing this with my sister who had never had Madeira before. She loved it and was astounded by the acidity/sweetness dynamic.
